Biological sewage treatment plant

A biological sewage treatment plant is sized according to the number of connected inhabitants. One inhabitant corresponds to one population equivalent (PE). The pollution load of commercial and industrial wastewater is also converted into population equivalents (PE) to determine system sizes.

Biological wastewater treatment

Mechanical, biological and chemical processes are used in wastewater treatment. In the mechanical-physical treatment, often referred to as the first stage, undissolved suspended matter is removed from the wastewater. Depending on their density, these substances are separated by sieving, filtration, settling or floating. Light substances such as fats float up, substances with a higher density sink to the bottom. Components of mechanical treatment are rakes, screens, grease traps, grit traps, flotation and primary sedimentation tanks.

What is a biological sewage treatment plant?

Biological sewage treatment refers to processes in which nutrient compounds are broken down and removed from the wastewater by microorganisms. While dissolved oxygen is required for the degradation of carbon compounds and ammonium (nitrification), the degradation of nitrate (denitrification) only works without it. The technical solution is ultimately based on natural cleaining by biology as it occurs naturally in streams and rivers. The best-known methods of biological wastewater treatment are pond treatment plants, activated sludge plants, trickling filters, constructed wetlands and fixed-bed plants. In addition to these options for biological wastewater treatment, we have developed the ClearFox® Nature biological sewage treatment plant, which is a fully biological, electricity-free biofilm small wastewater treatment plant with a filtration effect.

With this video we would like to show you how simple, safe and long-lasting this small biological sewage treatment plant is.

Precipitation and flocculation of phosphorus compounds

The third purification stage comprises various chemical (and partly physical) processes that remove other pollutants that have passed through the biological sewage treatment plant. These are precipitation/flocculation of phosphorus compounds, but also of substances that are difficult or impossible to break down, such as pharmaceuticals, toxins and heavy metals. In addition, the pre-treated wastewater can be sanitised by UV irradiation, ozonation or chlorination or cleaned of substances that can be adsorbed on it by means of activated carbon.

ClearFox nature – Non-electric biological wastewater treatment plant

The ClearFox® Nature non electric small wastewater treatment plant is the most cost-effective way to treat wastewater biologically in the long term. In addition to its excellent under- and overload operational ability, you also save energy and electricity bills for years. Furthermore, there are practically no wearing parts in the biological sewage treatment plant that would have to be replaced during maintenance. This can save you several thousand euros over the entire service life of the biological sewage treatment plant.
